Dogs Unleashed

Last weekend I know a lot of you were having fun at DogFest South with the very talented Noel Fitzpatrick.

Unfortunately it was a bit far for us to attend so we stayed a bit closer to home and spent our Saturday at Dogs Unleashed at Bakewell showground. This event was recommended to us by our friends at Wildpaws, who were attending again this year but this time with a stall, so we decided to go along and see what the fuss was about and say hi!

Dogs Unleashed is a yearly event and includes a variety of stalls and activities to keep you and your pooch entertained for the day. However if one day isn’t enough for you, you can choose to camp and stay for the weekend. Tickets were only £5 in advance or £6.50 on the day for adults (dogs go for free) so it’s a bargain day out.

There are plenty of activities for you to try with your dog such as flyball, agility, dog shows, fastest recall, dog scurry, wet and wild zones, obedience displays, and various contests.

Hendrix isn’t exactly the ‘have a go’ kind of dog as he doesnt have the attention span for most activities. However we even managed to find something he could enjoy in the Nerf dog play area.

He did also enjoy the beach and manged to clear it of all children in 2 minutes by digging and kicking sand at everyone then having a playfight with a fellow pooch.

One of the highlights for us was the stalls. I love shopping for Hendrix and he loves taste testing all the treats he can get his paws on! We also were able to visit a lot of the charity stands and combine our love of shopping with our need to help out rescues. I bought a gorgeous wolf cushion from a Wolfdog rescue charity and a takeaway coffee cup from A sled dog rescue.

We got to meet Henry Doodle Homemade Dog Treats, who we have followed on social media for a while now. Of course we had to try some samples and came away with some yummy Bacon Bones.

We also stopped by Wildpaws stall to finally meet the gang. Hendrix soon made friends with Wilbur and Paisley and took no time in persuading humans Catherine and Nathaniel that he is the best treat taster around.

I hear you guys have treats?!?

After lots of fuss, some photos and some treats. We decided on some duck sausage treats by The Innocent Hound and said our goodbyes. Hopefully we can meet up with them again soon.

We had a fantastic day out. Hendrix loved making lots of new friends and I loved photographing all of the dogs.

We will be adding this event to our calendar next year for sure,

Emma & Hendrix
