This Sunday we took a little outing to the All About Dogs show at Newark Showground. I’m not going to lie I was a little bit nervous about how Hendrix would handle it as he has never visited somewhere with so many people and dogs at one time. I was half expecting tantrums if he couldn’t play with the other dogs and for him to pull on his lead to try and dictate where we went. I was proven wrong on all accounts! Obviously he was curious about everything going on but he was happy to stop and sit when we wanted to watch something and remained calm around the other dogs. As per usual he attracted a lot of attention himself and the word handsome was used on more than one occasion.
We had gone a bit later in the afternoon so I think we missed most of the dog shows but we did catch some of the obedience training demonstrations (I hope Hendrix was taking notes). I loved walking around all the different stalls and checking out all of the small businesses. Hendrix was particularly fond of the Lupin Loves stall because of the nice lady who gave him lots of tasty treats to try. It cost me 2 bags of gluten free treats which we will review for you once they have gone through rigorous taste testing.
I could have happily spent a fortune on new treats and toys not to mention giving donations to all of the wonderful charities that do amazing things to help unwanted dogs. I got dangerously close to getting Hendrix a brother or sister (or 7) when we stopped at the Saints Sled Dog Rescue stall. I find it so hard to believe that such beautiful dogs can be abandoned or unwanted. If anyone is interested in adopting a sled dog, please check these guys out.
It was so nice to be able to include Hendrix in our day out, he looked so happy and by the end of the day he was so tired. It was a good job we bought him a new bed on the way out as he slept in the car all the way home and didn’t move for the rest of the evening.
